EATE Open 2026 English Speaking Competition for Grades 7-8
We can now say with complete certainty that this year’s competition was a success. A total of 37 schools from across Estonia registered, and of the 62 students who signed up, 57 took part in the event making this the highest turnout in the history of EATE’s speaking competition.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the speakers, the teachers who supported and prepared them, the judges and chairs, and the members of EATE who helped make this event memorable.
Although no overall winners were selected this year, we would like to highlight one special achievement. One student stood out in both categories – the impromptu round and the prepared speech round.
That said, as was emphasised during the event, every student who stepped out of their comfort zone to participate in such a challenging activity as public speaking gained valuable experience and can rightfully be considered a winner.
Below is the complete list of group winners, including their speech titles, schools, and English teachers.
Thank you once again, and congratulations to all participants!
